What is Papa8There?

Papa8There is a community service type Web site focused on contributing to the cultural and economic prosperity of the 21 southernmost counties of Illinois and Centralia. Our site is designed to assist both residents of and visitors to the region with information about the Southern Illinois area including products and services available in our area.

Is the site monitored or moderated?

Yes. Papa8There’s Administrators and Moderators do monitor the site to make sure that Users comply with our Advertising Policy, Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. We reserve the right to edit or delete any post that we find inappropriate or to ban any User that violates our guidelines and policies.

What about Freedom of Speech?

When you register with Papa8There, you agree to abide by every guideline, policy, term and provision in our Advertising Policy, Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and in doing so, you have chosen to limit your rights in exchange for the benefit of our service. We are not in the business of censoring the communication of our Users, but it is both our intention and our mission to maintain a civil Web site (including the Forum) so that all of our Users can feel comfortable.

How safe is my personal information?

Please refer to our Privacy Policy for a detailed account of how Papa8There may collect, store, use and disclose your personal information.

What is required for registration?

You must (1) complete the required fields; (2) confirm that you are at least 18 years of age; and (3) acknowledge that you have read, you understand, and you agree to abide by every guideline, policy, term and provision in Papa8There’s Advertising Policy, Privacy Policy and Term's of Use.

You will be required to provide your Username, password, first and last names, display name, date of birth, physical address and a valid email address. If you do not have a valid email address, there are several companies such as Hotmail and Yahoo! that will allow you to set up a free email account with them.

Is there a fee to register for this service?

No. Papa8There is funded by advertising from local business Sponsors. We encourage you to register with us so that you will be able to reap the full benefits of using our site which include posting in the Classifieds section and the Forum as well as submitting content for the community-driven areas of the site including the Event Calendar, Photo Gallery and Recipe Exchange. However, if you choose not to register you will still be able to read in the Forum, view events on the Calendar, etc.

How do I register?

Go to the Registration page by clicking on the “Register” link located in the uppermost right corner on any page of our site. You will be asked to provide the required information as well as some optional information. After inputting at least the required information, click on the “Register” link at the bottom of the page and you will have successfully created your account.

You will be required to verify your email address before logging in the first time. A verification code will be sent to the email address you provided during registration. To validate the code, simply click on the “Login” link located in the uppermost right corner on any page of the site, login, and enter the code. If you have difficulty receiving the email containing the verification code, check your Junk Mail folder and/or add admin@Papa8There.com to your “Allow” list.

Is there a fee to advertise in the Classifieds?

No. Advertising in all sections of the Classifieds is free.

Can I advertise my business on Papa8There?

Yes, but only if you advertise with us as a Sponsor. Unauthorized advertising by businesses in the Classifieds or in the Forum is strictly prohibited. Please refer to our Advertising Policy for additional guidelines.

Can I advertise items for sale by my business in the Classifieds?

No. Businesses can not post in the General Classifieds, Motorized Vehicles and Equipment, or Real Estate sections of the Classifieds. However, businesses are allowed to post in the Employment, Networking and Wanted sections.

What are the benefits of being a Sponsor of Papa8There?

Our Sponsors achieve a high degree of exposure to consumers in the most dynamic and progressive advertising medium at a reasonable cost and maintain a presence with their target market 24/7. Papa8There’s consumer-focused advertising and our community-driven approach with the content on our site allows our Sponsors to advertise directly to those consumers who are most likely to purchase goods and services from Southern Illinois businesses.

What are the guidelines for posting?

Papa8There will not tolerate any use of our services to conduct or forward chain letters, commercial solicitations, contests, junk mail, multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, “phishing,” “spamming,” “scalping,” or any other activity that is illegal or prohibited by our Terms of Use or otherwise infringes upon the legal rights of any person or entity.

However, we do encourage our Users to express, and even debate, differences of opinion in the Forum as long as those communications are appropriate for the general public and are not distasteful or offensive in any way and do not violate the rights of other Papa8There Users. Even the occasional sarcasm and friendly rivalry are okay if you simply can not help yourself. ☺

Our Advertising Policy specifically prohibits Ads for certain types of products, services, employment and other opportunities.

How do I create (or edit) my personalization settings and User profile?

Login and click on your “Display Name” located at the uppermost right corner of the screen page. Then click on the “Manage Profile” link and you will be able to view, edit and personalize all of your profile settings.

What are the guidelines for signature lines?

Signature lines must be 4 lines or less when viewed at 1024 X 768 resolution and must conform to the terms and provisions in our Term's of Use.

Can I have one or more links in my signature line?

Yes. External links are allowed in a signature line but only if the content and the purpose of both the link and the linked site are acceptable for the Users of Papa8There and are not distasteful or offensive in any way.

Please refer to our Advertising Policy for additional guidelines regarding the use of external links.

How do I post in the Forum?

First you have to login. Then go to the section in the Forum that is appropriate for your posting. Click on the button that says “Add New Topic,” type in your post, preview your post, then click the “Submit” button.

How do I edit a post in the Forum?

You can only edit your own posts. Go to the post that you want to edit, click the “Edit” button, and make the needed changes. Then preview your post and click “Submit.”

How do I delete a post in the Forum?

You can only delete your own posts. Go to the post that you want to delete and click the “Delete” button; your post will be deleted.

Can I add a picture to my post?

Yes, but only in the Classifieds section.

Can I use HTML tags or URLs in my post?

Yes. You can use them in both the Classifieds and the Forum. However, proper HTML etiquette is required.

How long will my Ad post stay in the Classifieds? How often can I repost?

Ads in the General Classifieds section will automatically be deleted after 10 days; Ads in the Wanted section will automatically be deleted after 30 days; Ads in the Employment section will automatically be deleted after 45 days; and Ads in the Motorized Vehicles and Equipment, Networking and Real Estate sections will automatically be deleted after 90 days.

Users can then resubmit Ads for any items that have not sold or for employment or other opportunities still being sought, but duplication of an Ad in one or more sections of the Classifieds is strictly prohibited.

Users can also edit Ads to show that items have sold. Ads that have been edited to show that all items have sold, and also Ads for expired events, will be deleted.

Can I post anonymously in the Forum or anywhere else on the site?

No. You must register in order to add any content to our site

How can I report abuse/harassment?

Please contact us immediately at abuse@Papa8There.com and include any information that might be helpful to our investigation.

Can I get reinstated if I have been banned?

You can email our Administrator(s) admin@Papa8There.com explaining why you feel you should be reinstated, but the Administrator(s) will have sole discretion over the issue of your reinstatement.

How can I cancel my account?

Login and click on your “Display Name” located at the uppermost right corner of the screen page. Then click on the “UnRegister” link and your account will be canceled.
